Eco-Friendly:
The Virgin Islands are still relatively unspoiled but to maintain this we must all be aware of the delicate eco system. In fact, the entire Caribbean is designated as an area of special sensitivity. On board Dreaming On, we try to do our part by being as environmentally friendly as possible. CORAL The coral and entire marine environment is extremely delicate. While anchoring, swimming and snorkeling, it is essential to be aware of this sensitivity and take precautions to avoid any damage to that system. Take only memories. Leave only footprints.
RECYCLING and GARBAGE DISPOSAL Although recycling has yet to arrive in the Virgin islands, we do our bit by separating our glass and cans in an effort to promote the concept. A glass recycling plant is opening on Tortola and we would like to support their efforts. Garbage disposal overboard in the Virgin Islands is prohibited due to the sensitivity of the marine environment. We do not dispose of any garbage overboard from Dreaming On.
WATER MAKER We do not use individual, disposable, plastic water bottles on board. Not only are these unhealthy, they constitute a massive burden on disposal facilities within the islands. Guests onboard Dreaming On are provided with individual, healthy, environmentally friendly stainless steel water bottles throughout their charter. Water is provided from the onboard water maker to refill these bottles.
SOLAR PANELS Dreaming On is equipped with solar panels providing 540 watts of silent, environmentally friendly power. Our solar initiative reduces our carbon footprint by considerably reducing generator running time. Those lazy panels just lie there all day soaking up the rays. But they're so hot, they're cool! |
